Is that logo familiar? I’d be confident to say that it’s the non-official online document of most real estate transactions.
CutePDF is free software you can download and install on your computer to enable the option to print virtually any document to a PDF. I say “print” because the process is just like printing to a traditional printer.
So how does one print to a PDF? What does that mean? Let’s say you are creating a flyer for a listing, and you’d like to send over a rough draft to your client. Do you send over the gigantic source file? I’d hope not!
When you’re ready to print to PDF, simply select “print”, then select your CutePDF printer (after installing of course). After selecting CutePDF as your printer and continuing the print process, you then have the option to select where you’d like to store/save your document, along with giving it a unique name.
Always remember where you put your files! You’ll surely need them later.
Mostly any document can be converted into a PDF. A PDF is a type of file; a file format. Most agents prefer to use a PDF version of most files for a few reasons; most notably:
- The files are usually significantly smaller. Scanning a page by page contract and sending them as raw JPEGs is a horrible waste of space and time.
- It’s a universal format. Anyone can download a reader to view PDF formats for free. A link to download or update your reader is at the end of this post.
- You can keep copies of virtually every piece of paperwork from a transaction on your computer or a flash drive. Since you’re printing or scanning your contracts to a PDF format, not only are you saving space, but you now have the ability to everything inside of directories on any storage device you’d like.
If you currently do not have any way to print to PDF, give it a try and come back and share your experiences by leaving a comment. Using another piece of software? Let me know what you’re using!

Been using Cute PDF for some time and like it. The only issue is sometimes it “prints” blank pages, the whole document will be all blank pages. It is really strange and when it happens that document just will not print with Cute PDF no matter what I do.
If anyone has a solution to this I would love to hear it. Naturally I keep everything updated.

Ken: Do you notice this happening when you print from your browser, or from a particular type of document? If you can reproduce the error so I can see it I can give the developers a shout to see what kind of options we have to fix it.

The next time it happens I will let you know. Seems to be when I am using our online forms from the board. Most of the time I have to print them anyways so it isn’t the end of the world. Will try and remember to come back here next time it happens and give details of what happened.

I use CutePDF and it has been very helpful with the amount of paperwork we forward on to clients and other agents. This is a great free tool.

For newer agents, keeping your fixed costs low is always a main priority. If you can utilize a tool that keeps you productive and is free, you got yourself a winner.
