Use GMail For Important Notes

Ever had an issue that you had to call customer support with that you thought you resolved, only you had to later call them back and use a reference number to bring them back up to speed? Did you lose that reference number?

In many cases, I’ve had very important notes from conversations with technical support for various products I use that I had to keep safe and easily able to access just in case. I’ve kept notes from calling my cell phone provider to calling my contact manager provider, because if I ever have to call back I’m going to want to let them know I remember everything.

I’ll share with you my system for keeping notes that has helped me for years. I basically use GMail for my “special” note taking. Why? GMail’s searching features works out wonderfully for being able to access your notes on the fly.

How It Works

What you are going to want to do is basically send yourself an email in GMail. It’s that easy! You can even get a little more advanced and label the email when you get a particular label so that you can reference all your important notes later.

After you receive your email with the important note, it’s safe to go ahead and archive. With the plethora of disk space that GMail provides, deleting is a rare occurrence.

Using This in Real Estate

In real estate, you can use this simple system for a wide variety of purposes. You can use this note taking system as a call log to keep track of all of your voice messages that you receive on a daily basis. You could also use this system to remember a particular code to a lockbox that you have installed on a home.

Get creative, and remember: GMail’s search feature is a god-send at times so if you want to have a particular bit of information accessible on the fly, send yourself an email in GMail and rest assured you have it when you need it.
