Are you ready for the next iPhone? This morning Digitimes reportedthat the total volume of iPhones production has increased by 12-13%, which is roughly 6 million more units.
Every time Apple releases a new iPhone, I sell my old ones (for my wife and I) for more than the cost to re-up my contract with AT&T. People are willing to pay for iPhones that are not locked into a contract, and while you technically still are, the phone isn’t. This Lifehacker article explains in great detail how this works exactly, and how I usually come out with money in my pocket from the upgrade.
Expected Release Date
The new iPhone is expected to be released along side iOS 5, which introduces a variety of cloud based features which should help alleviate the storage bloat the inevitably creeps into hardware. As apps, music, and movies become bigger in size, the need for a bigger iPhone goes up, and so do prices. Having storage in the cloud is one way to alleviate this issue; we just have to rely on Apple to knock it out of the park with the release (which they’re pretty good at doing).
Multiple sources have rumored a release should come sometime this fall (September – October’ish), which I tend to agree with as I’ve yet to see Apple release a phone in the holiday season.
iPhone 5 Concept Photos
No one really knows what the iPhone 5 will look like, but cultofmac.com has a post dedicated to artist renditions of what they think it may turn out to look like. In the past, some of these renditions have been based on oversea supplier leaks; mostly leaked cases that show an overall form of the iPhone.
My favorite has to be the iPhone 5 rendition from ciccaresedesign.net shown at the top of this post and below.
